The Kings are up 2-0 in the Stanley Cup finals and play games 3 and 4 on home ice in Los Angeles. Having gone 14-2 thus far in the playoffs, the Kings are on their way to putting together one of the best postseasons by any team in NHL history.
New York Mets pitcher Johan Santana celebrating after throwing a no hitter. Santana is the first Met to throw a no-no in franchise history. Coming off of a tumultuous year in which he was sidelined by Tommy John surgery, Santana’s accomplishment was the third no hitter in Major League baseball this year.
American 19 year-old Sloane Stephens hits a backhand in the French Open. The run of Stephens ended yesterday with a fourth round loss to Australian Samantha Stosur. Stephens went farther than any American women in the tournament, including both of the Williams sisters. Her promising play was the lone bright spot for American tennis in Paris.
